Those who know me well are aware of my love for music. That being said, I will admit that rap has no place in my “favorites” lists. However, a new rapper drew my attention. Believe it or not, he’s Iraqi!
A friend of mine in Iraq sent me a group of Youtube videos of an Iraqi rapper called TIMZ! When I first read the Youtube title “Iraqi Rapper”, I was surprised. My friend told me that some young men and women in Baghdad are being obsessed by this rapper whose latest song “Iraq” is being posted on Iraqi MSN and Yahoo groups. He said young men and women in Baghdad, especially those obsessed with western music, are exchanging the Youtube videos of this rapper who criticizes Bush openly in his “Iraq” song.
Tommy Hanna, or TIMZ, is an Iraqi American from El Cajon near San Diego, California. He was born to a Chaldean family that immigrated from Iraq in the 1970s.
What is funny in one of the Youtubes is an interview which Fox News conducted with him. The interviewer, Chuck Norris , was trying to put words into Tommy’s mouth in a very “independent” and “neutral” way which “has been always the policy of Fox News”!! Tommy was smart enough to make Norris stumble through his attempt at provoking Tommy!
